About Scott

Scott has grown his entire career within the 1898 & Co. family, starting as a new college graduate with Burns & McDonnell. Over the years, he’s consulted clients worldwide on future electric energy supply and delivery while building an industry-leading team of electric system planning professionals, and currently serves as managing director of the Southeast U.S.

Scott and his team help clients drive success in the ever-evolving utility industry, assisting with infrastructure modernization, technology optimization, data intelligence and more. Scott’s 30-plus years of experience means he’s been with the utility industry through significant changes, from deregulation in the late ‘90s to today, as the focus shifts toward renewable energy sources and resilient power grids.

How Scott helps his clients
With decades of experience under his belt, Scott’s more than adept at identifying potential trouble spots before they erupt. He also appreciates taking a pragmatic approach to identifying solutions. His deep understanding of how the business operates helps him identify common-sense solutions that bridge the gap between where a client operates today and where they want to be in the future.

What motivates Scott
For Scott, the idea that he works on life-changing projects — initiatives that will lead to a more sustainable future — is incredibly motivating. He also enjoys leveraging his experience to mentor new recruits and build a team driven by passion and commitment. “Knowing we’re here at work for something much bigger than ourselves — that’s motivating,” he says.

A little bit about Scott
You won’t find Scott sitting still on his day off — unless he happens to be on a beach. When he’s not working, he’s kayaking or taking 25-mile bike rides. A big fan of traveling, he’s eyeing a trip to Iceland and Spain in the future. Scott is a graduate of Kansas State University, where he received a degree in electrical engineering. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
