About Jason

As a director at 1898 & Co., Jason is responsible for leading capital asset planning and risk management solutions for clients in the power industry. He also brings analytical experience and industry knowledge to support the continued development of the AssetLens solution.

Jason attended Dordt University, where he studied mechanical engineering and business administration. During his career, he has supported business case evaluation and risk modeling across a range of industries, developing several multibillion-dollar investment plans. In his current role, Jason supports power industry clients in developing and justifying long-term investment plans to improve system reliability and resilience and enable the electric customer of the future, while managing long-term investment costs. He regularly supports the regulatory process.

How Jason helps his clients
Jason focuses on helping clients understand the investment needs of the system, identifying the right projects to achieve management objectives, building the customer-centric business case for investments and optimizing the portfolio to maximize benefits for interested parties. He employs financial and economic analysis with sophisticated risk-based analytics, including Monte Carlo simulation with robust optimization modeling. He is passionate about being able to develop new and integrated solutions to efficiently solve the range of a client's pain points. Jason believes successful solutions are accomplished by bringing the right people together with the right technology to unlock lasting success.

What motivates Jason
Jason is simply motivated by keeping his clients happy and delivering solutions that benefit all power industry parties. He strongly believes in developing robust business cases to justify investments. He believes it is important to empathize with the problems clients and their customers are facing and outline their situation to properly address the issue at hand. Jason is driven to solve clients’ biggest problems around system reliability and resiliency and enabling the customer of the future by identifying the portfolio of investments that are actionable and optimize benefit for all involved.
