About Matt

As a managing director at 1898 & Co., Matt leads the security and risk consulting department, focused on delivering leading cybersecurity solutions and services for clients across the critical infrastructure industries.

Matt studied information systems at Kennesaw State University, and then went on to earn his executive MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. Starting in network security, he has held a variety of roles across software, hardware and cybersecurity firms before specializing in operational technology (OT) cybersecurity. A member of the Forbes Technology Council, OT Cybersecurity Coalition, InfraGard and founding member of the International Society of Automation Global Cybersecurity Alliance (ISAGCA), Matt is actively working to advance the cybersecurity industry and see that companies across the world are able to continue to operate in secure environments.

How Matt helps his clients
Matt is passionate about critical infrastructure OT cybersecurity. With decades of experience, he helps clients understand the changing nature of the cyberthreats they may face and how to design their cybersecurity programs to stay safe while supporting ongoing operations. With cybersecurity being a team sport, Matt works with cybersecurity firms across the industry to bring together holistic solutions for 1898 & Co. clients that range from threat protection to incident response and see that client operations continue uninterrupted.

What motivates Matt
After a good friend and leader of OT cybersecurity passed away, Matt made it his mission to make a long-lasting ripple within the industry. Every day, everyone on his team is approaching the industry with the same passion. It is a collective mission to combat the cybersabotage that clients face and continuously advance the industry to stay ahead of future threats.

A little bit about Matt
When he is not trying to save the world, Matt enjoys getting outdoors with his family and being active. He enjoys running, playing tennis and hiking, as well as coaching football and basketball when his schedule allows. Working in a global industry, Matt has visited almost 40 different countries and looks forward to adding a few more to the list.
