About Lucas

As a managing director at 1898 & Co., Lucas leads the management consulting team, helping clients apply proven methodologies to establish strategies, investment road maps and technical solutions to existing and emerging business challenges.

Lucas has bachelor’s degrees in physics from Knox College and mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. After working for several years at one of the leading aerospace companies, he went on to earn his master’s in mechanical engineering and his MBA from the University of Illinois. Lucas has broad experience serving the power industry, where he helped drive early smart grid pilot programs as a business analyst, led operations technology implementations for utilities, launched new grid modernization and distribution planning consulting services for electric utilities and transitioned to strategic consulting services and investment decision support for utilities.

By asking the right questions and bringing empathy to a client’s situation, he partners with them to develop innovative solutions that can be effectively implemented in the real world. With over 20 years of diverse experience, Lucas brings a unique perspective to every project, seeing that clients have clear understanding and setting up their path to their future.

Lucas is driven to accomplish meaningful change in an organization through structured, open and honest communication that leads to relevant solutions.

A little bit about Lucas
Lucas and his wife, Bethany, have been married for 20 years and share three wonderful sons. They have a passion for fishing and, when not working with clients, can usually be found at Hillsdale or Stockton Lake chasing bass, crappie and walleye. Also a huge soccer fan, he and his sons support Manchester City as well as Sporting Kansas City, watching games whenever they can.
