About Thomas

As a director at 1898 & Co., Tom works with his team to deliver groundbreaking power projects that address the most pressing needs in the industry for his clients.

First earning a physics degree from Presbyterian College, Tom went on to attend Clemson University, where he studied electrical engineering. At Clemson, Tom entered the co-op program with a large investor-owned utility and began his full-time career after graduation. After a few years in the industry, he went on to earn an MBA from Georgia College & State University. Tom held a series of roles with increasing responsibility, gaining experience around distribution engineering, operations and construction along with monitoring, operating, designing, maintaining and restoring distribution systems. His experiences include distribution engineering, distribution system and standards, operations leadership, external affairs and engineering management. Moving into the consulting space, Tom has partnered with clients to address their distribution planning needs and is working to advance the grid in the southeastern United States.

Tom thrives on challenges and tackling new problems as the industry continues to advance.  He enjoys working with clients to figure out solutions to their problems and seeing those plans put into action.

What motivates Tom
Tom is motivated by delivering work that amazes his clients. A strong believer in the value of open communication, Tom will always remain clear and honest to help reach solutions on his projects. He believes it is essential to put your guard down and have a true person-to-person client interaction to create a genuine connection that helps the project move forward.

A little bit about Tom
Tom spends his days off with his wife and two sons. When not running around with the family, Tom is always up for a round of golf, attending sporting events or a nice steak dinner out with a great group of friends.
