Managing Director | Southwest Region

About Mark

As a managing director at 1898 & Co. Mark manages the Phoenix office, supporting critical infrastructure clients across the Southwest. Mark is responsible for providing input on the strategy and direction of the organization in the region, building and maintaining strong client relationships to support business growth, and hiring, developing and retaining top talent to support business initiatives.

Mark is an Arizona native and grew up in Tucson. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from Northern Arizona University before starting as an engineer, managing large capital projects for a large investor-owned utility’s generation fleet. As Mark’s career evolved as a consultant, he transitioned to providing project management services for power delivery business optimization and capital asset planning initiatives that improve infrastructure portfolios and optimize business outcomes. Mark has also assisted in the design and administration of renewable energy and energy efficiency rebate programs for various regulated utilities.

How Mark helps his clients
Mark helps his clients focus on the future and plan accordingly. As an engineer, he understands how challenging it can be to pull away from the day-to-day and look ahead. He helps clients navigate that as they shift toward solutions that are more environmentally sustainable.

What motivates Mark
For Mark, motivation comes from impact. He knows that his team’s work is making a difference for their clients — and the community. Seeing clients move toward sustainable solutions is exciting for Mark and his team.

A little bit about Mark
If the activity is outdoors, count Mark in. When Mark isn’t implementing environmentally sustainable solutions for his clients, he’s taking his family camping. A big sports fan — mostly watching, but some playing — Mark loves the Arizona Cardinals and Diamondbacks.

Mark is also passionate about creating opportunities for marginalized children. He led the firm’s initiative to partner with Valley of the Sun United Way’s VELLO program, where volunteers can tutor kids online anywhere, making it easy for his busy team to help area students reach their full potential.
