About Adam
As a director at 1898 & Co., Adam focuses on helping utilities manage their financial resources and develop long-range plans for providing financial resiliency and adequacy. As utilities face operating expense increases and substantial capital improvement program costs due to customer growth, aging facilities and changes in supply and distribution system technology, he has worked with clients to develop appropriate rate plans and complete economic analysis to support debt issuance, acquisitions and divestments.
Adam attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he studied mechanical engineering, and then he went on to earn his MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Since joining Burns & McDonnell, he has performed engineering design and led projects for construction of new power plants, oil refineries and central heating plants. Moving into his current role, he has worked with utility clients for nearly two decades on financial models, pro forma model development, market analysis, project financing, cost of service analysis and rate designs.
How Adam helps his clients
Adam assists clients in charting an implementable financial path to meet funding needs. He has helped create complex financial forecast models and load forecasts, supported debt issuance through independent engineer’s reports, prepared utility cost of service and rate design studies, performed asset depreciation rate analyses, completed system valuations and appraisals, and has provided overall utility system financial consulting support for years. Working with investor-owned, cooperative and municipal utilities that cut across the utility business, he is ready to assist clients in addressing the financial planning and utility rate-related challenges they encounter.
What motivates Adam
Whether it’s with a client or a team member, Adam is always looking for opportunities to serve. When working on client projects, he works to understand the challenges his clients are facing so he can make sure his work will support them. Every market and regulatory structure is different, so he tailors his analysis and guidance to fit the environment so that the client can be successful implementing their plan.
A little bit about Adam
Always looking for ways to serve, one of Adam’s favorite things to do is lead a boy’s high school Bible study every Sunday. Outside of church, Adam appreciates spending quality time with his wife, Kathryn, and their three kids, coaching their sports teams, or trying to plan a new family adventure.
