About Martin

As a managing director at 1898 & Co., Martin leads both asset advisory and emerging energy advisory for the oil, gas and chemical industries.

Martin attended the Illinois Institute of Technology and University of Chicago, where he earned his bachelor’s degree and MBA, respectively. His foundational experience includes process and project engineering for a major domestic refiner, and refining technology development and sales for a global technology vendor. In previous consulting roles, Martin helped clients implement the early phases of major capital projects and integrate new technologies into their business operations. In his current role, he and his team are focused on improving the energy and carbon efficiency of the entire value chain, helping clients tackle the emerging energy transition to a more sustainable future.

Martin helps clients by bringing new perspectives and approaches to a mature industry as it undergoes a historic transition and deals with ever-increasing volatility. Martin and his team offer clients a broad range of options to assist in creating and/or implementing their decarbonization strategy. They offer a complete range of decision support activities, including robust economic studies inclusive of policy impacts, investment road maps, margin improvement programs, new technology evaluations and conceptual designs for small and large capital projects. As clients consider alternative fuel sources and new technology, Martin partners with them to make the right decisions today to enable future success.

What motivates Martin
Martin is motivated by thinking about the win-win outcomes for clients and 1898 & Co. Working within such a supportive team, he is driven to take time out of his day to help someone else. Being able to mentor young professionals excites Martin about where the industry is going and provides an opportunity for him to return the favor to those new to the industry.

A little bit about Martin
An ideal day off for Martin is tackling house projects. An avid woodworker, he enjoys undertaking unique and challenging jobs, especially those that require the purchase of new power tools.
