About Mark

As a senior managing consultant at 1898 & Co., Mark works to build holistic strategies to improve business and technology solutions for critical infrastructure industries. With experience in business development, project management, research and development, information technology, systems integration and business process reengineering, both as a consultant and as a utility employee in the U.K., U.S. and Canada, he brings a unique perspective to clients’ most challenging issues.

Mark attended Imperial College in London, studying chemical and petroleum engineering. Since entering the power industry after graduation, he has accumulated over thirty years of experience working across a variety of roles supporting distribution, transmission, generation, metering, systems integration, deregulation, smart grid, transactive energy systems, interoperability, resilience, asset management and risk management. An industry leader, he has served as Chair of the GridWise Architecture Council, Chair of SEPA’s Transactive Energy Working Group, and a member of the Institute of Asset Management’s Knowledge Leadership Group.

Having worked as a specialist in different areas over the years, Mark is well-versed in simplifying complex problems and asking good questions to truly understand the challenges his clients are facing. An IEEE Senior Member and Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, he brings detailed experience in helping critical infrastructure clients develop and improve asset management programs.

Mark is motivated by the constantly changing environment and new challenges facing the industry. He believes people make the biggest difference and he thrives from the highly knowledgeable teams he gets to work with.

A little bit about Mark
An avid cyclist, Mark enjoys any opportunity to go for a long bike ride on a day off. When not cycling, he is perfecting his skills as a pilot flying radio-controlled planes, helicopters and drones.
