WALLINGFORD, Connecticut — 1898 & Co., part of Burns & McDonnell, has named Paul Von Hertsenberg managing director for the Northeast Region consulting practice. In this role, Von Hertsenberg will lead the continued growth and expansion of the firm’s consulting services throughout the Northeast.

Von Hertsenberg succeeds Kent Herzog, who will transition into a new role as branch manager of the Burns & McDonnell Boston office while also continuing to lead the firm’s Northeast environmental group.

“Paul brings a strong combination of utility industry leadership, strategic consulting experience and operational insight that aligns well with the evolving needs of our clients,” says Jason Cabral, vice president and general manager of the Burns & McDonnell Northeast Region. “We are excited to have Paul leading our team and helping advance our work and relationships across the region.”

Von Hertsenberg brings experience spanning utility operations, strategic consulting and asset management. Most recently, he served in a senior director of operations technology role for an investor-owned utility, leading operational initiatives and supporting critical infrastructure priorities.

Prior to that role, Von Hertsenberg worked within the 1898 & Co. business in Kansas City, where he held several leadership and project management positions supporting generation and utility clients nationwide. During his time, he served as director of strategic asset management, leading the development of a consulting offering focused on strategic asset management and asset lifecycle optimization grounded in operational realities.

Von Hertsenberg holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the University of Michigan.
