About Joey
As a director at 1898 & Co., Joey leads the grid modernization and distribution planning team, helping electric utilities plan, invest and optimize their grid system to meet increasing demands.
Joey received his mechanical engineering degree from Florida International University, before going on to earn his MBA from the University of Florida. After graduation, he started in the electric utility industry working as an engineer and supervisor at multiple utilities in Florida, leading planning and construction projects. Moving to 1898 & Co., Joey has worked as a system planner and project manager, performing distribution and transmission planning projects as well as NERC compliance studies, interconnection requests and equipment specification studies before stepping into his current role as director of grid modernization and distribution planning.
How Joey helps his clients
Joey and his team work to perform studies and develop solutions and business cases to address the client’s local regulatory environment, financial conditions, near-term objectives and long-term performance goals. Each utility’s regulatory and operational environment is unique, so he works to develop customized solutions and appropriate, actionable plans.
What motivates Joey
Joey is motivated by the opportunity in the industry and the team that he gets to work with every day. Working with specialists across the country to help clients meet increasing consumer demands for increased reliability, distributed energy resources, energy efficiency and other new grid technologies, he is proud of the work they have been able to deliver and how it has helped clients move forward despite all the changes impacting the grid.
A little bit about Joey
Joey stays busy with his wife and two kids, keeping up with their sports and activities, as well as finding some time to relax together. He loves traveling and enjoys taking the family on weekend getaways from his home in Atlanta for a change of scenery.
